Caught a fake Sac de Jour listing within ten minutes of reading this
I've been buying secondhand luxury for years and still learned new red flags from the section on seller reputation. The comparison table alone is worth bookmarking. Really practical stuff.
The leather smell test tip is something I never thought to try π
Finally feel confident enough to shop resale without second-guessing every listing
I bought a pair of Court Classics from a marketplace last year and couldn't figure out why they felt off. After reading the sneaker authentication section, I went back and checked β uneven sole pattern and smudged insole logo. Returned them the next day. This guide literally paid for itself on my very first read.
Solid content but the AI verification chapter felt a bit vague β I wanted specific app names and step-by-step walkthroughs instead of general descriptions.

The bit about counterfeiters copying serial numbers shook me. I always assumed those were foolproof
Bought this after almost getting scammed on a wallet. The red flags checklist for secondhand buying is exactly what I needed. Now I check seller history, return policy, and packaging before I even look at the price.
Clean writing, no fluff, straight to the useful parts
Wish it went deeper on clothing authentication β bags and sneakers get a lot of attention here but jackets barely come up. Still a strong starting point for anyone entering the resale world.
The case study about the discounted Sac de Jour was so relatable it hurt π
Shared this with my entire group chat after one of us got burned on a fake
I started a small luxury resale side hustle last spring and kept running into authentication anxiety with every piece I sourced. This guide gave me a repeatable system β inspect the stitching, weigh the hardware, check serial formatting, verify the seller. I've run maybe 30 items through that process now and caught two fakes before listing them. My buyers trust me more because I trust myself more.

The engraved vs printed hardware distinction was new to me
Good overview but some of the advice felt obvious to anyone who's been shopping luxury for a while. The AI tools section was the only part that felt fresh to me.
My sister gifted me this after I almost dropped $900 on a sketchy listing. Read it cover to cover in one sitting. The part about how fakes lack the weight and grain of real leather completely changed how I evaluate bags in person β I do the feel test every single time now.
Never realized how much packaging quality matters until this guide broke it down
The forum and community recommendations at the end were a nice touch. Already joined two groups and learned more in a week than I expected.
Decent read. Covers the basics well but I was hoping for more photo examples showing real vs fake side by side rather than just written descriptions.
Talked me out of a too-good-to-be-true deal within hours of finishing it π

Short, focused, and practical β exactly how a guide like this should be
I've been collecting Saint Laurent for about three years now and thought I had a good eye. Then I ran my last two purchases through the authentication checklist from the final chapter and realized I'd been skipping the documentation step entirely. One of those bags had a serial number with spacing that didn't match official formatting. Sent it to a third-party authenticator and sure enough β fake. Expensive lesson, but this guide made sure it was my last one.
