The serial number cross-check step alone saved me from a very convincing fake on a resale platform.
I buy and resell vintage Chanel and this checklist tightened up my entire authentication workflow. The step about capturing every angle — front, back, interior, hardware, authenticity card — sounds obvious but I'd been skipping interior shots and nearly missed a stitching inconsistency on a Classic Flap last month. The reminder to combine AI findings with personal knowledge is the most honest advice here; no app catches everything, but this checklist gets you 90% of the way. I printed it out and laminated it next to my photography setup.
Straightforward, practical, zero filler — exactly what a checklist should be.
The hardware and materials analysis step caught details I never would have noticed with my eyes alone 🔍
Shared this with my mom before she bought her first pre-owned Chanel — she felt so much more confident going in with a process.
The reminder that counterfeiters evolve alongside AI tools is the kind of honest nuance most guides skip.
Quick read but covers every angle — literally.
I used to rely on gut feeling when shopping resale Chanel and got burned twice. After finding this checklist I started running every potential purchase through the six steps systematically. The texture and color consistency callout in the scanning section is what flagged my last near-miss — the leather grain was slightly too uniform, which the AI tool confirmed as synthetic. I've since authenticated eight bags successfully and avoided at least two more fakes. This checklist turned what used to be an anxious process into something I actually feel in control of.
👜✅🔥
Good checklist that covers the essentials well. I'd love a follow-up version that names specific AI apps worth trying — the advice to research them is sound but a shortlist would save time for beginners.
The pro tip about pairing AI with expert opinions is the realest line in here.
Font spacing and placement on serial numbers — never would have thought to check that without this guide.
I run a small consignment shop specializing in pre-owned luxury and this checklist became our standard operating procedure overnight. Before, each of us on the team had our own ad hoc process — some checked hardware first, others started with serial numbers, and details slipped through the cracks. Now every intake follows these six steps in order. The materials and hardware analysis step caught a superfake last quarter that had fooled two of us visually. Printed copies sit at every workstation and we haven't had a single authentication dispute with a buyer since adopting it.
Useful and well-structured. Wished it went a bit deeper on what specific red flags to look for in stitching patterns — the checklist tells you to analyze them but doesn't describe common counterfeit tells. Still very practical as a starting framework.
Sent this to three friends who shop resale — two of them caught issues on their next purchase.
The step about reviewing the AI report thoroughly instead of just glancing at the score is underrated advice.
Clean, scannable, and actually useful in a real buying situation.
Laminated this and keep it in my bag for consignment shop visits 👏
Short enough to memorize, thorough enough to trust.
